Jill Silverman obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Hearing & Speech Sciences from University of Maryland, College Park in 1994 and her Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from University of the District of Columbia in 1998. She acquired several years of experience as a DHMH State of Maryland Speech-Language Pathologist IV, working with adolescents and adults who have severe intellectual disabilities and behavior disturbances. She has served pediatric clients at the National Children’s Center and completed practicums with all age cohorts at University of Maryland Medical Center/R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. She has worked as a Director of Rehabilitation in a skilled nursing facility, and been employed as a Home-Healthcare Speech-Language Pathologist for multiple local agencies within the Baltimore Metropolitan area. Jill has even treated individuals on the Forensic Unit at Bon Secours Hospital in Baltimore.
Most recently, her business setting has primarily centered within Skilled Nursing Facilities. Her passion focuses upon the diagnosis & treatments of swallowing disorders (Dysphagia) and Sjogren’s Disease. She has proficiency in Modified Barium Swallow Study implementation & interpretation and has gained specialty certification in VitalStim Therapy (Neuro-Muscular Electrical Stimulation/NMES) to address various specific deficits with rapid quantifiable/qualifiable results demonstrated in most clients served. Additionally, Jill is skilled in treating Traumatic Brain Injuries, Aphasia, Strokes/CVAs, and degenerative diseases such as ALS, Parkinson’s Disease/Parkinsonian-like Syndromes and Myasthenia Gravis as well as Voicing Disorders.
Jill has worked Fulltime as an SLP for over 20 years. When she isn’t working, she spends time with her husband, children & dog.
